MetaMule preps your footage and photos for Getty / iStock, Pond5, Shutterstock and Adobe Stock. AI titles, descriptions, and keywords tuned to each marketplace's controlled vocabulary, tech-spec checks, model-release tracking, the upload file each site wants, and the upload itself over FTP. A weekend of keywording, done in minutes.
Apple Silicon by default, or Intel Mac. Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
Free trial. Your first 25 assets are on us. No card required.
Built by Hector Knudsen and Devin Supertramp. Two working stock shooters who got tired of spending more time keywording than shooting.
Drop in a folder of footage or photos. MetaMule writes your metadata, runs every platform's checks, and tracks your releases. You just review and upload.
Titles, descriptions, and 25–45 keywords per file, rewritten into the exact terms Getty and Pond5 index. Buyers search those terms. Unrecognized words are dead weight. Far more of your keywords land green in the uploader instead of red.
Resolution, codec, frame rate, duration, and file size, checked against Getty/iStock, Pond5, Shutterstock, and Adobe's current requirements. Advisories, not blocks. You decide.
Every marketplace lets you upload metadata for hundreds of files at once with a single spreadsheet, a CSV. MetaMule writes that file for each site, matched to their template down to column order and quoting. Drag it into their bulk uploader and every file fills itself in.
Flags any shot where a recognizable person is the subject, including helmets, masks, and silhouettes, and tracks which signed release covers which one. Blank forms for every platform included.
Preview any file inline, play video and mark slow motion vs real time (Getty requires it), override location per file, and nudge the AI to regenerate a single one in seconds.
Shoot defaults, remembered locations, conditional keywords for multi-subject folders, recent-shoots history, and progress that survives a crash or an overnight batch.
Give hundreds of files one clean name and number before you tag, so the file names on the marketplace always match your metadata. Preview it first, undo in one click.
MetaMule remembers the titles it wrote for a location, so your second shoot of the same place gets fresh, distinct titles instead of echoing the first. Your own clips stop competing for the same search.
Deliver the media itself to Pond5, Shutterstock, and Adobe Stock over FTP, right from the app. One upload at a time so the transfer stays stable, every file verified, and it resumes where it left off if a big run drops. No separate FTP client.
Import your Getty, Shutterstock, Adobe, and Pond5 earnings and MetaMule charts what really pays — by month, by marketplace, video vs photo, and your top earners. Filter by year or marketplace. Your statements never leave your machine.
Resolve leaves a little zoom “pop” on the first and last frames of an exported clip. MetaMule scans a folder, finds only the clips that actually popped, and trims just those frames — in batch, lossless on ProRes, your originals kept by default. Read about the bug and the fix →
MetaMule scans every clip and photo and checks all four platforms' specs. Rename a whole shoot to clean names, and fix the DaVinci Resolve head/tail punch on the clips that have it — before you tag.
AI writes marketplace-tuned metadata for every file. Review each one, fix the odd file with a one-line nudge, mark slow motion on video, and resolve releases.
MetaMule writes the upload spreadsheet for each platform, with your model releases in it, and can upload the media itself to Pond5, Shutterstock, and Adobe Stock over FTP. Folder in, live on the marketplaces, out.
Getty and Pond5 match your keywords against a controlled vocabulary. Anything unrecognized shows up red and does nothing for search. MetaMule rewrites keywords to the canonical forms those marketplaces actually index, a mapping built and verified against real uploads, so red becomes the rare exception instead of half your list.

Only the monthly asset allowance changes. All four marketplaces, model releases, vocabulary normalization, and CSV export are included everywhere. Spec validation is always unlimited.
Getty / iStock (ESP), Pond5, Shutterstock, and Adobe Stock. Validation rules, metadata conventions, and each marketplace's exact CSV format, verified against real contributor templates and uploads.
No. It's just a spreadsheet file, and it's how every stock marketplace lets you upload metadata for hundreds of files at once instead of typing each one into a web form. MetaMule writes it for you and saves it beside your media. You drag it into the site's bulk uploader. If you'd rather look at it first, it opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets like any other spreadsheet.
No. MetaMule is a simple subscription. The AI is built in. Nothing to configure.
One video clip or photo that MetaMule generates metadata for. Spec validation is unlimited and free on every plan, and regenerating or nudging a file you've already generated doesn't count against your allowance, up to five times per file, which is far more than anyone needs to fix one. Hit your monthly allowance during a big shoot? Add +100 assets for $10. Never auto-charged.
Most will. MetaMule rewrites keywords to the canonical terms Getty and Pond5 actually index, built from real uploads. No tool can guarantee every term matches a vocabulary that's constantly curated. The handful that don't match are still kept by Getty. They're just weaker for search, and far rarer than with raw AI keywords.
Your media stays on your machine. Analysis runs locally. Only small preview frames are sent to the AI to write metadata. Nothing is stored on our servers.
MetaMule flags any shot where a recognizable person is the subject (Getty-strict: helmets, masks, and silhouettes count), lets you attach signed releases from your release library or mark them editorial, and writes each shot's assigned release into your Adobe Stock upload. Blank official forms for every platform are included too.
Both. macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. Same app, same features, one subscription across your machines.
Delivery formats the marketplaces accept: ProRes/H.264/H.265 .mov/.mp4 video and JPEG/TIFF/PNG photos. Camera raw from RED, Blackmagic, ARRI, Canon, Nikon, Sony and others is detected and skipped with a note. Export deliverables first.
